  • Playgroup Co-ordinator

  • Two prep teachers

  • Class 1 teacher

  • Class 2/3 composite class teacher (depending on enrolments)

Position description

Class teaching at Sophia Waldorf School rests on the fundamental understanding that the teacher accompanies the Class from Class 1 to 7. This journey requires a vocational commitment to ongoing professional and personal development and the anthroposophical principles underlying Steiner Education.



Position Objective
 

To provide a caring and exceptional Steiner educational environment and learning experience for all students within the class throughout their primary school journey.



Key accountabilities
 

  • Develop and maintain a nurturing, positive learning environment and attend to the pastoral care of all students.
     

  • Develop, implement and evaluate artistic, engaging and effective educational programs that meet Steiner and the Australian curriculum version 8 requirements and effective communication with parents and carers.
     

  • Willingness to participate fully as a member of the College of Teachers.
     

Selection Criteria

  • An understanding of the principles of Rudolf Steiner Education and a demonstrated love for children and teaching.
     

  • An understanding of child development as described by Rudolf Steiner and a commitment to professional learning and inner development through anthroposophical studies and artistic activities.
     

  • An ability to plan, deliver and assess a developmentally appropriate curriculum that integrates the arts: music and singing, painting and drawing, movement, modelling, speech and drama combined with excellent classroom management skills.
     

  • Teaching experience, preferably in a Steiner Primary School educational setting and an ability to work well with parents as partners.
     

  • An ability to work collegially and a willingness to actively participate in and contribute to the cultural and festival life of the school.
     

  • Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
     

  • An intention to commit the full cycle of the class teacher Class 1 to 7.
     

  • Your appointment will be subject to a satisfactory Working with Children Check under the Queensland Child Protection Act 1999

Essential

  1. Hold relevant teaching qualifications for accreditation with Queensland Education Standards Authority.
     

  2. Registration with the Queensland College of Teachers (QCOT)
     

  3. Teaching qualification accepted by the QCOT
     

  4. Steiner Training highly desirable

Sophia Waldorf School is seeking an experienced class teacher to commence with our Class 1 children for the 2022 school year. Their teacher will provide an exceptional Steiner educational environment and learning experience, for all students within the class, as they progress through primary school journey to class 7.

The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to Steiner Education, with demonstrated experience as a class teacher and hold relevant teaching qualifications for eligibility for accreditation in Queensland.
